By carving, moulding and hand building Katie creates landscape inspired pieces, invoking a sense of depth and atmosphere using varied textures, darkening oxides and touches of glaze.
Her love of the ancient and historical influences the surface of Katie's ceramic work. Whether it’s a beautifully hand-carved stone relief or simply an unusual pattern eroded naturally onto a rock.
Katie is always travelling with her sketchbook, working in pen, ink and the occasional watercolour she crams her sketches full of the interesting, little details as well as entire scenes.
Katie studied a Decorative Arts Degree at Nottingham Trent University and graduated with honours in 2009. Katie can currently be found pottering away in the little red studio at Proteus Creation Space in Basingstoke, North Hampshire.
