Matthew Lowe is a ceramic artist living and working in Tamworth, Staffordshire. He graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2013 with a degree in Applied Arts.
His work is inspired by natural forms such as sea slugs, anemones and urchins. The vessels have an organic feel, and the spiky protrusions create patterns and shapes in the cast shadows on the surface.
Matthew works in porcelain and adds gold lustre to define shapes and add interest. He creates one-off unique pieces using coiling and hand building techniques.
Matthew regularly exhibits at Art In Clay in Hatfield and here at The Art Nest.
