Improve your drawing skills with these fun workshops. Working from still life, learn how to get the best results from observational drawing by incorporating different techniques. All materials and refreshments are included.

 

 

Saturday 27th April: Forage & Create

Join us for an informative walk and talk with The Hitchin Forager - a.k.a Jane Simmons (weather permitting). Learn about the plants and herbs good enough to eat in our local countryside.

Returning to the gallery for a light lunch and an afternoon of drawing and painting from observation.

Create wonderfully observed illustrations from our finds of plants, berries and herbs

using pencils, charcoal, fine-line drawing pens and watercolours.

Friday 10th May: Illustration for Beginners - Twitchers Delight

A fun and relaxed workshop where an imaginary brief will be set for you to interpret with help and guidance from our tutors. Use a range of mediums including watercolour, drawing pens, ink and collage. This session’s brief: Select your favourite British birds to illustrate a book jacket for a bird spotters guide. With Emmeline and Sarah. 2 - 4.30pm, £25pp.

Working from a variety of still life objects, learn some basic drawing techniques. With Sarah. 2-4pm £12.50pp

 

Friday 14th June: Illustration for Beginners - In the Kitchen

A fun and relaxed workshop where an imaginary brief will be set for you to interpret with help and guidance from our tutors. Use a range of mediums including watercolour, drawing pens, ink and collage. This session’s brief: Taking inspiration from everyday kitchen utensils and ingredients,

find the designer in you to produce an illustration suited for a re-useable carrier bag.

Friday 12th July: Illustration for Beginners - Gardeners World

A fun and relaxed workshop where an imaginary brief will be set for you to interpret with help and guidance from our tutors. Use a range of mediums including watercolour, drawing pens, ink and collage. This session’s brief: Produce an illustration for a gardening magazine using potted plants, garden tools and flowers for inspiration. With Emmeline and Sarah. 2 - 4.30pm, £25pp.

Friday 9th August: Illustration for Beginners - Cafe Menu

A fun and relaxed workshop where an imaginary brief will be set for you to interpret with help and guidance from our tutors. Use a range of mediums including watercolour, drawing pens, ink and collage. This session’s brief: Design a menu front cover for a new tea room, incorporating hand drawn text. With Emmeline and Sarah. 2 - 4.30pm, £25pp.
