Sharon Korek works in kiln formed, fused glass and cast glass; making sculptural pieces, wall panels, splashbacks and functional items.
Having her own studio has allowed her to experiment with different forms and shapes, building pieces from several component parts. She also has an industrial sized kiln which gives her the freedom to create much larger pieces.
Sharon’s glasswork is inspired by her love of nature, and the infinite creativity to be found there. She describes glass as an ‘exciting and versatile material to work with - sometimes it seems to have a life of its own’.
Sharon explains; ‘Opening the kiln after a firing, there is always a moment of holding one’s breath, to see what the cut and assembled pieces of glass have become in the intense heat of the kiln.’
Sharon’s work is bright, bold, colourful and fun; celebrating the beauty of nature.
